‘Knistikkervisa’ (the-knife-stabbing-folk-song) by the Norwegian hip hop collective TRG is the first physical release from the ongoing project best coined as Death Rap For Environment - which spawned out of late-night Skype-meetings between the official Flood artist-apartment in the village of Moi and the CB4 HQ in Oslo.
This dark and grimy tune is presented in a time when the Norwegian government is opening up for oil and gas activities in one of the most sensitive areas of the Arctic under Norway’s control. Such activity will inevitably lead to the destruction of a vulnerable and unique marine ecosystem of exceptional ecological importance in the Arctic and is likely to cause future floods.
This ultra-violent and super aggressive tune marks a new age in the fight against the neo-capitalist movements ruining our planet. The track can be interpreted as a direct threat to everyone not willing to take part in the rescue of our future, or a subtle, but frustrated observation of the directions contemporary mankind have chosen. Kill for the climate?
Recorded in a dark basement in the arctic city of Tromsø some years ago, and now finally brought back to the surface through the environmental satellite project that arose during the FLOOD residency of 2019 titled Death Rap For Environment.
Track contributions by the infamous underground rappers Tusj, Hekt & Killah K.
